Graeme Souness on Liverpool 3-1 Man City
City’s hopes of a comeback in the second half were dealt a serious blow when Sadio Mane made it 3-0 just after half time.
Bernardo Silva pulled one back for City but Liverpool held on for what could prove to be a vital win in the title race.
City were without centre-back pairing Aymeric Laporte and Nicolas Otamendi due to injury, with No 1 goalkeeper Ederson also absent with a thigh problem.
The visitors thought they should have had a penalty for a handball by Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold before Fabinho’s opener.

“City didn’t play badly but I think the game was decided today, not on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s possible penalty, but I think it was decided by City running out of their best players at the back. Simple as.
“I think if they had the best defenders on there and possibly goalkeeper, it may have been a real chance of it not being this result, but that happens in football.
“You need a bit of luck, as well as being a very good team, you need a bit of luck to win a league because there will be times where you run into suspensions, you run into injuries.
“Unfortunately for City at this time they’ve run into injuries and they’re playing their biggest rivals, and Liverpool were ruthless today.
