Man Utd, Real Madrid and Barcelona facing transfer setback over Erling Braut Haaland
Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow in their plot to sign Erling Haaland.
Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all keen on signing young phenom Erling Haaland.
However, they could all miss out, as the Red Bull Salzburg striker is apparently keen on a different move.
The 19-year-old has scored an incredible 23 goals in all competitions this season.
After scoring in every Champions League game of the campaign, his maiden appearance in the competition, he has now scored more goals in his first four games in the competition than any other player in history.
Salzburg have slapped a £86million price tag on their teenage sensation, who is wanted by a host of European giants.
Having worked with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his time at Molde FK, it was believed he would be open to a move to Old Trafford to fulfill their aim of signing a striker.
But now, it appears he has his sights set on a move elsewhere.
Sky Sports reports that Haaland is interested in signing with Red Bull affiliate RB Leipzig to test himself in the Bundesliga.
The striker is reportedly wanted by Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann, who sees the striker as the perfect player for his system.
Earlier this week Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge, said his son would be open to leaving Salzburg for a move to the Premier League.
“At one stage he would like to play in the Premier League, but when that will happen I don't know. It is a very tough league,” he told talkSPORT.
"Up to now he is ahead of the stage we thought he would be at. He is built for the Premier League, but whether that will happen now or at a later stage, we don't know.
"He is at Salzburg - a fantastic club playing Champions League - so in a way he is in no hurry.
“They have shown from the past that they are a 'middle step' club and, if they are going to recruit players in the future, they can't put a stupid price tag on the players because nobody would want to go there.
"He was a Leeds fan and a City fan and a Nottingham Forest fan; he followed me obviously, but that is what you do in your youth, It is different being a supporter and having a job, but he was born in Leeds."
