Arsenal fans demand Gunners chiefs sell Granit Xhaka after star tells crowd to ‘f*** off’
Arsenal fans have demanded that captain Granit Xhaka is immediately placed on the transfer list and sold, after he appeared to tell the crowd to “f*** off” when he was booed off at the Emirates during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
Arsenal fans have launched a furious backlash on captain Granit Xhaka for his reaction to being booed off by the Emirates crowd.
Unai Emery substituted the Swiss international in the 60th minute for youngster Bukayo Saka, during the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.
The crowd, who clearly thought the midfielder had a poor match against the Eagles, immediately booed Xhaka.
Xhaka was visibly annoyed by the reaction. He put his hand to his ears and started swinging his arms, gesturing sarcastically for the crowd to be louder.
Get out my club. Disgrace to the shirt.
Xhaka then appeared to tell the crowd to “f*** off” while he sauntered off the field.
When the official Arsenal Twitter account revealed that Xhaka had been substituted, fans raided the responses, urging the club to get rid of him.
“Get out my club. Disgrace to the shirt,” tweeted one Arsenal fan.
“I never want so see Xhaka in an Arsenal shirt again, unless he improves drastically,” added another fan.
“Hope he never wears an Arsenal shirt again, said one supporter.
“And that should be the last we ever see of our ‘captain’,” responded another Twitter user.
“Xhaka is done at this club,” said another, while one fan added: “Reaction was classless”.
“Get him the heck off the team!!!,” tweeted one Gunners supporter.
“Club Captain, disgraceful,” said one Twitter user, and another said: “If I was Xhaka I would hand in a transfer request January and just leave this club.”
Arsenal drew the match 2-2, and remain in fifth place in the Premier League table.
The Gunners were 2-0 up within 20 minutes, but allowed Palace to come back into the tie.
Palace were awarded a penalty for a tackle on Wilfried Zaha, after VAR overturned the referee's decision on the pitch. The Gunners were also disallowed an 85th-minute winner, for a slight push in the build-up to the goal.
