Virgil van Dijk will be “very disappointed” for his role in Napoli’s second goal against Liverpool on Tuesday night, claims former Reds defender Stephen Warnock.
Napoli won the Champions League tie 2-0 to condemn Jurgen Klopp’s side to their first defeat of the season.
A controversial Dries Mertens penalty gave the hosts the lead before substitute Fernando Llorente sealed the victory in stoppage time.
UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Van Dijk was guilty of giving the ball away near his own box and Llorente capitalised.

And after the match Warnock was critical of the Holland international defender.
“I think so [Van Dijk was at fault],” Warnock told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I think he just tried to overplay, didn’t he.
“I think he just caught in that situation where Liverpool were desperate to score a goal to get themselves back in it and he’s overplayed and it was just a misplaced pass, it was sloppy.

“The ball would have been halfway up the pitch and they all would have been pushing up.
