Man Utd former boss David Moyes tells club what to do with Paul Pogba
MANCHESTER UNITED should keep hold of Paul Pogba, according to the club’s former manager David Moyes.
Pogba needs a 'through the roof offer' to leave United says pundit
Pogba has expressed his desire to leave Old Trafford this summer and pursue a “new challenge”.
His agent Mino Raiola has been working hard to fashion a way out of the club but United do not want, and are in no position, to sell.
Pogba has two years remaining on his contract and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken of plans to build the midfield around the dynamic Frenchman.
The £150m-rated player is believed to have gone about his work on the training ground professionally throughout pre-season and assisted two goals in United’s 4-0 opening weekend rout of Chelsea on Sunday.
Manchester United should keep Pogba because he is one of the top players in the world
And Moyes, who was sacked by the club in 2014 after nine months in charge, feels the 20-time champions of England would be foolish to release Pogba from their clutches.
“I think Manchester United should keep Pogba because he is one of the top players in the world,” Moyes told talkSPORT.
“He has got really good ability. He might have just needed a bit of time to settle.
“I think it has been unsettling because of the way him or his agent have come out and said he wants to move again.
Man Utd: Solskjaer praises Paul Pogba after Chelsea win
“But if you look at Manchester United’s midfield on Sunday, not having Paul Pogba would have made them much weaker.”
United did not sign a midfielder in the summer transfer window despite being linked heavily with moves for Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff and Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes.
Pogba scored more goals and laid on more assists than any other United player last season in his third term for the club since returning in 2016.
United paid Juventus £89m for his services, breaking the world-record transfer fee at the time.
