Arsenal employee reveals transfer insight - ‘A fantastic replacement' for Aaron Ramsey
ARSENAL loanee Dani Ceballos will be the man to fill the shoes of the departed Aaron Ramsey at the Emirates.
Arsenal: Dani Ceballos says he is ‘proud’ to wear the shirt
That is the opinion of former Arsenal defender and pundit for the club’s in-house TV channel Rhys Weston.
Ceballos joined the Gunners from Real Madrid last week on a season-long loan.
North London rivals Tottenham were also said to be interested in the 23-year-old.
Ceballos is one of three new players Arsenal have signed so far in this window to go along with young Brazil striker Gabriel Martinelli and French defender William Saliba, who will spend this campaign on loan at Saint-Etienne.
I think he could be a fantastic replacement for Rambo
Weston is impressed with what he has seen of all three signings.
But it is Ceballos who he thinks can have the biggest impact heading into the new campaign.
“I think [the] Saliba [deal] shows how seriously Arsenal are taking him,” Weston told Arsenal.com.
“I think he had suitors all over Europe.
“The fact is that he’s chosen to come to the Arsenal.
“Obviously [he’s] going to continue his education at Saint-Etienne which is great, he’s only played a handful of games for the first team there.
“But a real talent and prospect for the future.
“Martinelli, again, a really exciting prospect.
“Relatively unknown but he’s shown signs in pre-season that he’s got a lot about him.
Arsenal: Emery should 'improve defence' says pundit
“Whether he plays a big part or a small part this season remains to be season.
“But for me Ceballos, Under-21 European Championship, played for [Real] Betis, a lot of games with Betis.
“He’s made his name at Real Madrid and now we have the benefit of getting him at the start of what I’m sure is going to be an amazing career for the young man.
“Obviously Aaron Ramsey’s departed for pastures new and having someone like Ceballos coming in, I think he could be a fantastic replacement for Rambo.”
