Bent move sparks deal for Crouch
SUNDERLAND have made a new move to sign Tottenham striker Darren Bent after missing out on Peter Crouch.
And that could kick-start Spurs’ £12 million bid to sign Crouch, with chairman Daniel Levy also prepared to offer Portsmouth a player-plus-cash deal involving Pascal Chimbonda and Giovani dos Santos.
Levy has been keeping in touch with the representatives of Real Madrid’s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, but sources in Spain last night claimed the Dutchman had finally agreed to join Stuttgart.
Tottenham yesterday beat Everton to the signatures of defenders Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker from Sheffield United.
The pair have moved to Spurs in an £8m double deal. Naughton was in the squad for last night’s friendly against Aldershot Town and is likely to be included against European champions Barcelona in the Wembley Cup tomorrow night.
Sheffield United claim that Walker will be returning to them on loan as a condition of the deal.
