Man United: Long time to go before Pogba leaves says expert
Juventus are preparing a mega £120m bid for want-away Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, according to The Sunday Times.
Maurizio Sarri is targeting the Frenchman as he tries to completely revamp his newly-acquired squad.
They’re hoping that bringing Pogba back to Turin will go a long way in helping them to finally win the Champions League next season.
But, United are likely to reject the bid, as they expect Pogba to be staying at Old Trafford this summer.
The United hierarchy are resolved to reject any approaches for Paul Pogba
The United hierarchy are resolved to reject any approaches for the World Cup winner.
That would include any offers made by Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid, who has been strongly linked with a move for Pogba.
United think that the 26-year-old will be a key part of Solskjaer’s revolution at Old Trafford.
They also expect him to be on their pre-season tour of Oceania and the Far East. The squad is scheduled to depart for Australia later today.
But, the club are currently unaware of his location, and they haven’t spoken to him directly since the end of the season, it’s been claimed.
It’s also been suggested that Pogba plans to snub United’s pre-season tour, as he’s still trying to force a move away from United.
Earlier this week, Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, said that he was working with United to seal a summer transfer for his client.
“Everyone within the club, from the manager to the owner, knows Paul’s wishes,” he said.
“Everyone knows the willingness of Paul to move on. We are in the process of that. Everyone knows what the feelings of Paul are.”
As it stands, United haven’t received any bids for the midfielder, but that could change over the next few days, with Juventus planning a major offer.
Meanwhile, Solskjaer is working on finding a central midfielder replacement for Pogba, just in case he leaves the club this summer.
The club have been linked with a surprise move for Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez, who was on Pep Guardiola’s radar earlier in the season.
But, Atletico reportedly have no intention of selling Saul this summer, after Man City paid the release clause for central midfield partner Rodri this week.
United have also been linked with a move for Newcastle starlet Sean Longstaff.
Solskjaer is reportedly preparing a bid for the 21-year-old, but it’s believed the Magpies will reject any move for the midfielder.
