MANCHESTER UNITED have agreed personal terms with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer target Bruno Fernandes ahead of a proposed summer transfer move from Sporting Lisbon, as the club appear to have beaten Liverpool and Tottenham in the race.
Bruno Fernandes scores STUNNING strike against Benfica
Man United have struck an agreement with Bruno Fernandes, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira.
Solskjaer has been targeting a move for the Sporting midfielder since the end of the season.
The clubs are yet to agree a fee for the player, and are still some way off, it’s believed.
United have had a £31m bid rejected for Fernandes, but Sporting are holding out for at least £54m.
New contacts today between Manchester United and Bruno Fernandes’s agent
United had a meeting with the player’s agent on Monday ahead of the deal.
Fernandes agreed to an Old Trafford move this summer, and Solskjaer is now keen to get the deal over the line.
“New contacts today between #ManchesterUnited and #BrunoFernandes’s agent,” said Schira on Twitter.
“#RedDevils have an agreement with them and now want to finalise the deal with #Sporting.”
United appear to have won the race for the in-demand 24-year-old, after Liverpool dropped out.
Liverpool reportedly baulked at Sporting’s valuation of Fernandes, having reportedly had a £40m bid rejected last month.
Still, Sporting manager Marcel Keizer has admitted it’ll be a struggle to hang onto the Portugal international this summer.
“I want Bruno Fernandes to stay, but everyone knows the current situation,” he said.
“It’s going to be difficult to keep him going, he’s on vacation, we’ll see what happens.”
Bruno Fernandes more 33 appearances for Sporting in Liga NOS last season.
He scored 20 league goals from central midfield, as well as assisting 13 times.
Solskjaer has turned his attention to the Portugal star after sealing the signings of both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James.
