John McGinn: I hope Aston Villa can thrive in the Premier League
McGinn was voted Villa’s fans’ player of the year last season in a campaign which saw the Midlands side promoted back to the Premier League.
Manchester United want to continue adding young and hungry players to their squad after securing the signings of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Swansea and Crystal Palace respectively.
And The Sun are now reporting that McGinn could be next on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s list.
McGinn moved to Villa a year ago for £2.75m from Hibernian and has enjoyed success since joining the Championship outfit.
The Scot scored in Aston Villa’s 2-1 win over Derby in the Championship play-off final.
The Sun’s report also states, though, that McGinn’s price is set at £50m.
United have already shown their willingness to spend this summer after they splashed that amount of Wan-Bissaka.
And in an email claimed to have been seen by the Telegraph, United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has told club staff to expect some exciting transfer news this summer.

“Despite the inflated nature of the transfer market, the recruitment team — in conjunction with the manager — are working calmly behind the scenes to bring in other exciting players that fit their long-term vision for the club,” the email allegedly read.
United are also setting their sights on Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes and Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff.
The Red Devils are confident they can sign both players despite the fact that no bid has yet been made for either.
Paul Pogba’s future at United is also up in the air and could have the biggest impact on a potential deal for Fernandes to move to Old Trafford.
