In Italy, Materazzi has been backed to join Jose Mourinho at Newcastle by taking a place among the 56-year-old’s coaching staff.
Materazzi has now responded to speculation he could reunited with the manager he won a historic treble with at Inter Milan in 2010.
"It is a desire I have had since I stopped playing football," Materazzi told Tutto Mercato Web, when asked if the idea of him heading to Newcastle with Mourinho is credible.
"The opportunity has not yet occurred, but to start with it would mean working with the number one.

"The best situations must be verified. If it is so, well, otherwise my esteem for him will not change."
Materazzi, however, suggested Mourinho really would rather join a top team, rather than one which is some way off challenging for silverware.
"I do not think that at the moment it is a real and concrete opportunity," Materazzi said, when asked if Mourinho can go to Newcastle.
"Jose wants to win immediately. To build an important team one or two years are not enough: at this moment there are also constraints that do not allow you to pull up a squadron in very little time.
