What Real Betis have now done as Tottenham and Man Utd weigh up Giovani Lo Celso bids
TOTTENHAM and Manchester United have been handed a boost with Real Betis identifying Benjamin Bourigeaud as a potential replacement for Giovani Lo Celso, according to reports in Spain.
Giovani Lo Celso: Real Betis star scores IMPRESSIVE goal
Express Sport revealed last month that Tottenham have identified Lo Celso to potentially take the place of in-demand Christian Eriksen in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
Tottenham’s Premier League rivals United are also interested in snapping up the Argentina international, who is currently on duty at this summer’s Copa America.
Lo Celso is rated around the £67m (€75m) mark by Betis, who bought him from Paris Saint-Germain for a third of that fee at the end of the season.
It seems the La Liga side are getting set to do business, with Bourigeaud lined up to succeed Lo Celso in the heart of Rubi’s midfield.
Spanish newspaper Estadio Deportivo claim Betis have set their sights on the Rennes man having come up against him in the Europa League round of 16.
Bourigeaud is said to be Betis’ ‘Plan A’ to replace Lo Celso, who is on Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid’s list of potential transfer targets as well.
Atletico are reported to have had a £49m (€55m) bid for Lo Celso knocked back as Betis attempt to sell the 23-year-old for as much as possible.
While Tottenham, Manchester United and Real have so far just made it clear they intend to submit offers for the former Rosario Central ace.

Betis could stump up a chunk of the bumper fee they expect to receive for Lo Celso in order to get £18m (€20m) Bourigeaud through the door.
Atalanta are also in for Bourigeaud, who is keen to play in the Champions League next season, but Betis have put in plenty of groundwork.
Benito Villamarin chiefs have spoken to the player and Rennes in order to establish how to get a deal sorted out for him to join them.
But the extra financial outlay they may incur will be a small portion of the money they will bring in for Lo Celso.
