Harry Maguire reveals what really happened after Instagram like sparked Man Utd meltdown
HARRY MAGUIRE appeared to see the funny side after sending Manchester United fans into meltdown over a post he liked on Instagram.
Man Utd should avoid Harry Maguire at all costs says Castles
Maguire has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and teased supporters when he responded to a post on the social media site.
The England defender is currently on holiday after another superb season at the heart of the Leicester defence.
One fan eager to see him at Old Trafford commented on a picture he posted, saying: “You're going to be a fan favourite in Manchester United.”
Maguire then liked the post and some saw that as a sign that he would be moving to the club.
However, the 26-year-old was quick to give an explanation as he attempted to play down the rumours on Twitter.
Alongside a laughing emoji, he wrote: “I didn’t mean to guys... we’ve all been there.”
Maguire is one of the most sought-after centre-backs in England and is also understood to also be interesting United’s cross-town rivals Manchester City.
While away on international duty earlier this month, he insisted he was not thinking about where he might be playing next term.
“When I’m away with England I don’t think about anything to do with club football,” he said.
“As soon as I wear this England badge it’s really important for myself to focus on England and nothing else.
“At the moment, nothing is going through my head in terms of club football.”
However, he admitted last year that he has ambitions to play at the highest level and said it would be difficult to turn a big club down.
Yes, definitely it would be a difficult one,” he said in October 2018.
"If you're not an ambitious footballer, you're in the wrong game really.
"Everyone wants to play at the top level, everyone wants to play in the biggest tournaments in the world, so obviously the Champions League is one."
