CHELSEA fans are all saying the same thing after the official Twitter account wished Frank Lampard a happy birthday - and it’s about the club’s new manager.
Chelsea: Lampard to bring 'feel-good factor' to club says expert
Chelsea fans have all urged the Blues to announce Frank Lampard as the club’s new manager.
It came after the club wished the former Champions League winner a happy birthday on Twitter.
The tweet, which simply read “Happy birthday Frank Lampard!”, sent fans into meltdown.
Hundreds of tweets responded to the club’s birthday wishes by urging Chelsea to reveal Lampard as the new boss.
Announce Lampard as manager
“*Happy Birthday to our new manager, Frank Lampard! Fixed it for you, you’re welcome,” said one fan.
Another responded: “Here’s your b’day gift, you’re the new Chelsea boss.”
One Chelsea fan simply said: “Announce Lampard as manager.”
“What a great day to announce a famous return to the Bridge,” added one Twitter user.
“Can’t believe finally you’re coming back to us, happy birthday boss!” said another.
Several tweeters wrote the same thing, with the most common response being: “Announce Lampard.”
Lampard has long been linked with the vacant managerial position at Stamford Bridge.
He’s been tipped to replace Maurizio Sarri, who took the reigns at Juventus last week.
It’s believed that Lampard’s connection to the club could help them to navigate a difficult 12 months, when they won’t be able to sign any players during a transfer ban.
The former England international had a strong youth policy during his first season in management at Derby County.
The experiment was relatively successful, steering the Rams to 7th place in the Championship, and the Play-Off Final.
Chelsea may be tempted to pursue a similar tactic of promoting youth over the course of the next 12 months.
