Arsenal transfer news: Unai Emery ordered to sign Adrien Rabiot - 'He seems ideal'
ARSENAL boss Unai Emery must return to Paris Saint-Germain and sign midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
Arsenal 'need someone like Rabiot' suggests Nicol
That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and Liverpool legend Steve Nicol.
Rabiot is out of contract at PSG at the end of June and has previously been a target of Arsenal.
The France midfielder was frozen out by the Ligue 1 giants after rejecting offers of a new deal.
His last appearance came in the 4-1 Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade on December 11 2018.
I’m going to say Rabiot to the Premier League - yes. And the destination should be Arsenal
Emery coached Rabiot for two years at PSG and Nicol believes a reunion would be good for all parties.
“Adrien Rabiot to the Premier League I think would be a good move for any Premier League team,” Nicol said.
“And I think there’s one team in particular who would benefit - Arsenal.
“He seems ideal for Arsenal.
“Unai Emery knows him as well, he should know his game inside out.
“Arsenal need somebody in the middle of the park, that’s for sure.
“I’m going to say Rabiot to the Premier League - yes.
“And the destination should be Arsenal.”
Back in 2016, Rabiot revealed how he preferred Emery to previous PSG boss Laurent Blanc.
“Blanc had certain things going for him but I think Emery is a little closer to the players,” he told Goal.
"This is a coach who really communicates with everyone.
“He is asking us our opinion after the sessions, what we liked, what we didn't like."
