Jamie Redknapp only disappointed with ONE player during Switzerland vs England clash
MANCHESTER UNITED midfielder Jesse Lingard was the only England player Jamie Redknapp was disappointed in during the Nations League clash against Switzerland.
Nations League: Gareth Southgate previews ‘important’ match
Lingard came into the England starting XI for the Nations League third-placed play-off.
The 26-year-old thought he scored a vital goal to put the Three Lions ahead in the semi-final versus Holland on Thursday, only for VAR to rule it out.
Gareth Southgate gave him a chance from the start against Switzerland but Redknapp was less than impressed with the Manchester United man at half time.
“It’s been a good start,” Redknapp said on Sky Sports.
I think probably the only one from the players that came in, seven changes, Jesse Lingard’s been a little bit quiet
“We’ve played well, started really brightly.
“I think probably the only one from the players that came in, seven changes, Jesse Lingard’s been a little bit quiet.
“But the rest of the players have been good.”
England captain Harry Kane started the match after only coming off the bench against Holland.
He nearly gave his side the lead early on with a delightful chip.
And Redknapp was pleased with what he saw from the Tottenham man.
“Harry Kane’s been influential up front, some really good touches and he’s been heavily involved,” he continued.
“He plays a little ball off there and keeps his run going.

“I thought he was so unlucky there, it was a lovely chip, but the keeper makes a really good save.
“I think if he doesn’t touch this, the keeper, I think it’s going to hit the underside of the bar and go in.
“I think it’s a really important touch he gets.
“I think some of our football has been excellent.”
Lingard lasted until half time in extra time as England were taken to penalties.
