Man Utd outcast reveals what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told him about his future
MARCOS ROJO has revealed Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told him he’s in his plans for next season.
The Argentina international’s future at Manchester United has been up in the air for several months.
Rojo, 29, made a paltry six appearances for the Red Devils last year, though much of his time on the sidelines was due to injury.
The former Sporting Lisbon man was expected to leave the Theatre of Dreams this summer as part of a mass clearout.
However, he claims to have been reassured he does a future at the club.
"For now I would like to stay at United," Rojo told El Dia. "I spoke to the manager before the end of the season and we spoke about his plans for me.
"He said that I was in his plans, that I'm an important player and that he wanted me to return to full fitness, to be able to count on me in the first team.
“It's now time to rest and spend time with my family before returning to England."
In recent weeks, Manchester United have been linked with a mega-money for Ajax centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, who caught the eye of a slew of clubs in Europe with a string of impressive performances for the Dutch champions.

On Saturday, it was claimed the Red Devils are ‘very close’ to landing the 19-year-old after offering a contract worth a whopping £350,000-a-week.
That notion, however, has been emphatically dismissed by Sky Sports reporter James Cooper, who said: "Well I think Matthijs de Ligt quite naturally was on Manchester United’s rather extensive list of targets this summer.
“But certainly what I’m being told from sources close to Old Trafford is that they think the player is already closing in on a move to Barcelona.
“There’s no doubting Man United could have matched Barcelona when it comes to salary, when it comes to the fee they would be paying Ajax.
“And there’s no secret I don’t think that Manchester United suffer from a dearth of leaders on the pitch, going into a season where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to return them to the top domestically and also on a European front in the Europa League.
“You could say that they’ve pulled out of the hunt for this player but I don’t think they realistically thought they were ever in the hunt for Matthijs de Ligt.
“The 19-year-old has made a massive impact for club and country, certainly this season. I think he would have fitted in very nicely at Manchester United.
“But I think it’s also natural in these negotiations that when I get the impression they are closing in on this deal that Manchester United’s name gets thrown into negotiations when agents and middlemen are looking perhaps to get a better deal for their player.
“As far as United are concerned, Matthijs de Ligt won’t end up at Old Trafford this summer and is more than likely to be at the Nou Camp sooner rather than later.”
