Former England striker predicts Manchester United transfer that WILL happen this summer
ANTONIO CONTE will finally sign Romelu Lukaku this summer after missing out on the Belgian back in 2017.
Romelu Lukaku WILL leave Manchester United claims pundit
That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and former England forward Paul Mariner.
Antonio Conte looks set to become the next Inter Milan manager - his first job since being sacked by Chelsea last year.
The Italian wanted to sign Lukaku two years ago but the Belgian instead chose to join Manchester United.
However, Lukaku is now heavily linked with a move away from the Premier League and to Serie A, a league he has previously stated his desire to join.
Do I think Lukaku is the answer? In Serie A, he might be the answer
Mariner does not think Lukaku is suited to the style of play in the English top flight.
And he thinks it would be good for all parties if the 26-year-old ended up at Inter Milan.
“I think it is [going to happen] actually,” Mariner said.
“I think with all the interest that Conte showed in him in previous football clubs, at Chelsea.
“Look, do I think Lukaku is the answer? In Serie A, he might be the answer.
“In the Premier League, he’s not the answer.
“He doesn’t score enough goals, [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer and various coaches had him drifting out to the right.
“Look, he’s a centre-forward in my view, he may do okay [at Inter].
“I say for the lad himself, to be happy, I’d say yes.
“I think [the Serie A suits him], I don’t think the Prem suits him to be honest.”
