LIVERPOOL have confirmed a 26-man squad heading out to Marbella for training camp in preparation for their Champions League final with Tottenham.
Liverpool’s squad is ‘not as deep’ as rivals says pundit
Liverpool are heading out to Spain for training camp as they ready themselves for their biggest game of the season against Tottenham in Madrid.
Naby Keita is the surprise inclusion, having previously suffered a groin injury that ruled him out for two months.
The Reds will be looking to win their sixth European cup at the third attempt, having lost finals in 2007 and 2018.
Last season, they succumbed to the imperious Real Madrid but Liverpool continued their fine European form this term to reach another final.
In the semi-final they overcame Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate, having lost the first leg 3-0 in Catalonia.
Their Madrid opponents Spurs beat Ajax in dramatic fashion as well, winning the tie on away goals thanks to a second-half Lucas Moura hat-trick in Amsterdam.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has been talking about his side’s progression to the final this year by noting he’ll tell his grandchildren about their miraculous run.
“That memory will be with me forever, it’s a story that I’ll be telling my children and my grandchildren,” he said.
“I’m just hoping that we can see this story through, God willing, to get the title, which is our main objective.
“I played here against Liverpool and I experienced the power that the fans gave to the team on the pitch. They put a lot of pressure on you, it’s not easy playing here against our team.
“Now that I’m playing here I’ve experienced the amazing things that we have achieved in this Champions League, qualifying for the final in the way that we did, returning from a difficult defeat that many thought was impossible.
“It was achievable through God's blessing, the work that we put in and a lot of dedication, plus the support from the fans on the night which was incredible.”
Jurgen Klopp and his team will spend the next six days in Marbella to make sure preparations are spot on for June 1.
