Champions League suspensions: Which Liverpool and Barcelona players could miss the final?
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE action continues tonight with the second leg of the semi-final between Liverpool and Barcelona but are any players at risk of being suspended for the final?
Liverpool v Barcelona: Champions League semi-final preview
Barcelona take a significant advantage to Anfield tonight following their 3-0 win last week.
Lionel Messi’s brace followed up Luis Suarez’s opener to put Barca on the cusp of their first Champions League final since the 2014/15 season.
Despite the deficit, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp retains hope of his side progressing to back-to-back finals.
He said: "We are far away from giving up. There is hope. If there is an opportunity to go to the next round, we have to try.
"We want to celebrate the Champions League campaign, either with a proper finish or another goal.
"If we can do it, wonderful, and if not then fail in the most beautiful way, if you want, with a close result."
Champions League suspensions
Four players were booked at the Nou Camp last week: Clement Lenglet, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez all saw yellow for Barcelona, plus Liverpool’s Fabinho.
However, current Champions League rules mean all yellow cards were wiped out following the quarter-finals.
This means players from both squads will still be eligible for the final even if they pick up a booking tonight.
The only way a player will be suspended for the final is if they receive a red card at Anfield this evening, or by receiving a retrospective ban.
