Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus star makes Barcelona transfer claim despite Real Madrid past
CRISTIANO RONALDO has claimed he will never swap Juventus for Barcelona because of his Real Madrid past.
Cristiano Ronaldo completes incredible skill in Juventus training
Cristiano Ronaldo is currently at Juventus, having quit Real Madrid back in the summer following a nine-year rivalry with Barcelona.
The 34-year-old often relished facing the Catalan giants and left the Bernabeu having scored 18 times against Ernesto Valverde’s side from 30 outings.
Ronaldo has been linked with a move away from Juventus after a solitary campaign following their Champions League exit to Ajax last month.
But the 34-year-old has insisted he will never join Barcelona as he feels his Real past would prove an issue for the club’s supporters.
“Barcelona isn’t for me,” the Portugal international said.
“I’ve been there once or twice I got the impression they didn’t like Cristiano that much.
“That’s normal though because we were rivals. It isn’t a problem.”
Ronaldo also took the opportunity to praise Real fans and insisted he had no qualms with Madrid.
The 34-year-old agreed to pay a huge £17million and accepted a suspended 23-month jail sentence after pleading guilty to tax fraud relating to his time in Spain.
But Ronaldo has played down talk that he does not like Madrid, adding: "I can't forget or hide my problems with the tax authorities, my life is like an open book.
"I wanted to provide some jobs [with my hair transplant clinic].
"I know people love me, they know I gave a lot to the club and it also gave me a lot.
"They say to me in the street 'Cris, come home, it's always your home' and I like to hear that."
Ronaldo then added that he is glad to have surprised people by shining at Juventus, despite the competitiveness of Serie A.
“People are always judging," the Juventus star continued.
”They say 'it's over already, he's 33, 34 or 35 years of age'.
"You want to surprise people."
Ronaldo is next in action when Juventus face off against Roma on May 12.
