Celtic team news: Predicted 4-2-3-1 line up to face Aberdeen – Kieran Tierney decision
CELTIC could welcome Kieran Tierney back from injury as they look to wrap up the Scottish Premiership against Aberdeen this afternoon (12.30pm).
Celtic know just a point is required at Pittodrie to secure an eighth-straight Scottish Premiership title.
And Neil Lennon’s men will have star defender Kieran Tierney back in contention to feature in what could be the decider against the Dons.
The left-back will have an operation on a double-hernia at the end of the season and the Hoops are looking to carefully manage his playing time until then.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Lennon said: “Kieran’s training, so he’ll be in contention for the weekend.
“He saw the specialist last week and got cleared but he’s in a lot of pain. It’s a case of managing him on a daily basis.
“When the season finishes and he gets the surgery the better it’ll be for him going forward.
“He’ll be out for around three to four weeks following the surgery so hopefully he would be back in time for the European qualifiers.
“It’s a double hernia, so that needs fixing. It’s something he can manage but it’s not ideal. But he wants to train and play and get us over the line.”
The 21-year-old has already been ruled out of Scotland’s Euro 2020 double-header against Cyprus and Belgium in June, and may even been rested by the Hoops until the Scottish Cup final.
Emiliano Izaguirre could deputise for Tierney at left-back while Tom Rogic is expected to feature in midfield and Scott Sinclair may start after signing a new contract this week.
Ryan Christie remains sidelined after a nasty facial injury while Jack Hendry, Vakoun Bayo and Dedryck Boyata are out with hamstring problems.
Leigh Griffiths remains unavailable due to personal issues while Craig Gordon, Eboue Kouassi and Daniel Arzani has knee injuries.
