MANCHESTER CITY manager Pep Guardiola thinks Liverpool were “incredible” despite losing 3-0 in their Champions League semi-final first leg against Barcelona.
Pep Guardiola says Liverpool were ‘outstanding’ vs Barcelona
Manchester City remain favourites for the Premier League title as Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool head toward another trophyless season.
Guardiola has chosen to praise his rivals after their midweek disappointment, and denied claims that the defeat will leave psychological scars on Liverpool.
He said: “I don’t think so. The game was incredibly good. Both sides were incredible.
“Liverpool were outstanding, I enjoyed watching it a lot."
City are a point clear in the league table with two fixtures remaining, a home fixture with Leicester and a trip to Brighton.
Liverpool face Newcastle on Saturday evening before hosting Wolves on the final day.
Guardiola continued: "They fought a lot for this season and I think of course Newcastle is not easy but they will be well prepared.”
The Spaniard has insisted that City do not have an advantage in the title race despite being knocked out of the Champions League by Tottenham at the quarter-final stage.
