Roy Keane: Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would've been tempted to do this against City
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would have been tempted to make 11 changes against Manchester City, claims club legend Roy Keane.
Man Utd vs Man City: Solskjaer says team needs to be ready
Solskjaer made five changes for the visit of Manchester City from the 4-0 defeat to Everton on Sunday.
Phil Jones, Diogo Dalot, Nemanja Matic, Romeu Lukaku and Anthony Martial all missed out on the starting XI.
In came Luke Shaw, Andreas Pereira, Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard and most surprisingly Matteo Darmian, who made his first league start since December.
Keane admits the pressure will be building on former team-mate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a run of six defeats in eight matches.
You obviously can’t change 11 players, although I’m sure he was tempted
And he reckons the Norwegian could have changed it up more than he did after Sunday’s dismal game at Goodison Park.
“Yeah [he could have made more changes] but you also then have to focus on the next game,” Keane said on Sky Sports.
“You obviously can’t change 11 players, although I’m sure he was tempted.
“But he will be looking for a reaction.
“Obviously it’s been well-documented how disappointed he was after the game.
“He spoke about I suppose a lack of pride the players showed.
“I think we can always forgive players having a bad performance.
“But if you don’t sprint and close people down, then there’s going to be big, huge question marks.
“So he will be hoping, whether he believes it or not, he will be hoping for a reaction from these players.
Man United vs Man City: Premier League preview
“People are saying it’s the ideal game for them, I’m not sure.
“I’ll be thinking maybe more Huddersfield or Fulham at home to get a in under your belt.
“So it’s going to be a tough night for Manchester United, big question marks over a lot of these players and question marks now over Ole.
“The pressure will be building on Ole. They need a big performance.”
