Tottenham team news: Predicted 5-3-2 line up to face Man CIty with THREE out injured
TOTTENHAM manager Mauricio Pochettino has several key selection decisions to make ahead of Spurs' Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City tonight (8pm).
Tottenham are set to be without several first-team players when they face Manchester City in their Champions League quarter-final.
Eric Dier, Serge Aurier and Erik Lamela are all sidelined with injury ahead of the visit of City to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Fernando Llorente also faces a late fitness test while manager Pochettino needs to make a decision regarding his side’s formation ahead of City’s visit.
The Argentine deployed a 4-2-3-1 set-up last time out against Crystal Palace as Spurs eased to a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Danny Rose was utilised on the left wing as Dele Alli started in central midfield alongside Moussa Sissoko.
However, Pochettino opted for a five-man defence in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool and could choose this more conservative option for the opening leg against City.
One of Ben Davies or Rose will start at left-wing back beside a central trio of Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen.
Kieran Trippier will start at right wing-back while Sissoko and Alli should be joined by Christian Eriksen in midfield.
However, Harry Winks is also in contention for a recall and could feature if Alli is pushed further forward.
Son Heung-min is most likely to be named in support of Harry Kane, although Lucas Moura is fit and found the back of the net against Liverpool.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Pochettino conceded the match could well be the most significant of his coaching career.
“For us, it's a massive bonus for us to have the opportunity to be here today [at the new stadium] and play in the quarter-finals with all the circumstances.”
