Man Utd: Solskjaer says Sir Alex Ferguson has been his mentor
Ferguson, who led United to 13 Premier League titles, is regularly welcomed back to the club.
That has become a more regular occurrence since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has become boss, with the Norwegian having been in charge since December.
Solskjaer has admitted he takes inspiration from Ferguson, and Mata has now revealed the message that the Scot, who underwent surgery for a brain haemorrhage lsat year, told every player when visiting.
“The times he was there in the last months, he was just watching training and he would say 'hello' to everyone and have a longer conversation with the manager,” Mata told the Manchester Evening News.
“Having him there, his aura, his memories, what he’s given and done for this club are things you cannot really explain.
“Obviously it’s very nice when you see he has recovered from what he had.
“He’s one of the most important figures in Manchester United and he gives you that positive energy.”

That was against Bayern Munich, with the goal coming deep in stoppage time.

“We will have in our minds his image, celebrating that goal and Sir Alex Ferguson celebrating,” Mata said.
