Man Utd flop Alexis Sanchez regrets signing for Red Devils over Man City - Ian Darke
MANCHESTER UNITED flop Alexis Sanchez “regrets” signing for the club over Manchester City.
Rio Ferdinand: Solskjaer is aiming to get the best out of Sanchez
That is according to football commentator Ian Darke.
Sanchez has failed to impress at Manchester United since joining in January 2018.
The Chilean was swapped for Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Arsenal and awarded a four-and-a-half year deal worth a reported £500,000 per week, including bonuses and image rights.
Sanchez has not justified being the club’s best-paid player by any means, however, scoring just five goals in 41 appearances.
The former Barcelona forward struggled under the defensive methods of Jose Mourinho, but was one of only a few players to not be uplifted by the introduction of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Sanchez has been given chances by Solskjaer but failed to capitalise, and his injury at the start of March has only raised more doubts over his future.
Those have been intensified by a recent tweet about the sidelined attacker.
Respect commentator Darke asserted: “Alexis Sanchez is ‘understood to regret signing for Man U rather than City’.

“Not as much as United must regret signing him perhaps.”
Things could be so different for Sanchez had he joined City, which looked the more likely move in the embryonic stages of the 2018 January transfer window.
Pep Guardiola wanted another fleet-footed wide forward to embellish his frontline and the lack of transfer fee interested the club.
Man Utd: Solskjaer says Alexis Sanchez 'can only improve'
Etihad chiefs pulled out of the deal when discovering Sanchez’s wage demands, though, fearing it would provoke an unsettled dressing room.
That has turned out to be the case at Old Trafford, where David de Gea is using Sanchez’s pay as a measuring stick for his desired salary.
It is also believed Ander Herrera and Juan Mata are using it as an argument in negotiations, which could ultimately lead to them leaving the club for free this summer.
