The Colombian elbowed Celtic's Scott Brown in the face after the midfielder clipped his heels off the ball.
Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday was then dismissed after the final whistle as he was involved in an incident with Brown, the Hoops captain, who was celebrating the victory in front of the travelling Rangers fans.
After the final whistle Lennon touched on the emotion surrounding the tie.
"There was lot of build-up to this game, a lot of emotion. These players have been full-on for the past two and a half years and they just wont give up," Lennon said.
"You can see them dragging themselves over the line. They're a credit to the club.
"With the experience we've got we should have handled moments a bit better. But we galvanised ourselves and scored a great goal."

Celtic board slammed over Dedryck Boyata conflict
Rangers are now 13 points behind league leaders Celtic, with seven games left, and Gers boss Steven Gerrard felt Brown should be disciplined for his behaviour on Sunday.
"You're playing against a player who loves to antagonise," Gerrard said.
"Morelos and [Ryan] Kent are both provoked. The guy who antagonised it all from the beginning deserves to be punished as well.
