Liverpool news: Jamie Carragher reveals how he felt during Tottenham victory
LIVERPOOL hero Jamie Carragher has praised the Reds' 2-1 victory over Tottenham at Anfield.
Liverpool are 'back where they belong' says Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-1 on a dramatic afternoon at Anfield, in a result that sees them leapfrog Pep Guardiola's Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
The game looked to be heading for a draw after Roberto Firmino and Lucas Moura had traded blows.
But Liverpool snatched all three points at the death courtesy of a Toby Alderweireld own-goal.
And Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, has now admitted that he did not particularly enjoy watching the game - but was elated with the result.
"It's massive,” he said.
“Again, Liverpool weren't at their best.
“But Jurgen Klopp called it before the game about how the nerves will play a part at different times. He said that this is the time to enjoy it.
"I can't say many Liverpudlians were enjoying this.
“History tells you that to win a title, you have to score late winning goals, and Liverpool have done it so often this season.
"Going back to the Merseyside derby, Origi's goal, then Fulham last week, and now another."
Liverpool defender Andy Robertson was jubilant after the game, saying: "It’s massive.
"I thought we blew them away in the first half an hour, then we got a bit sloppy and you can’t do that against a good team like them.
"They beat us comfortably in the second half but these lads go right to the end and it’s all about the three points."
Trent Alexander-Arnold then added: "Both teams wanted to win the game and both had chances, but I think maybe we wanted it more than them and we showed it at the end.
"We got a bit fortunate but you need that to be in these types of positions and to win these games."
Liverpool are next in action against Southampton on Friday.
The Saints will go into the match on a high themselves after a 1-0 win over Brighton on Saturday.
