CHELSEA boss Maurizio Sarri has revealed that Neil Warnock did NOT have an issue with him in their 2-1 victory over Cardiff.
Chelsea: Fans have 'lost belief' in Maurizio Sarri says Cascarino
Chelsea survived an almighty scare to beat Cardiff 2-1 courtesy of late goals from Cesar Azpilicueta and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, boosting their chances of finishing in the Premier League top four in the process.
Azpilicueta’s goal, however, appeared to come from an offside position - sparking fury on the Cardiff bench.
Warnock was seen shouting at Sarri, leading to some to theorise that the duo were actually at loggerheads.
But the Chelsea boss has now clarified the situation and revealed exactly what was said.
“No, he told me about the referee decision, not with me at all,” he said.
“I understand the situation, they are fighting and were winning and I understand him.”
He added: “I have not seen it, but Neil said he was sure for offside two yards.
“I have to believe him.”
Chelsea were far from their best with the Blues’ team selection before the game sparking anger among the supporters.
Eden Hazard was left on the bench.
And even when Chelsea were trailing, Sarri opted to overlook the energetic presence of Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Chelsea fans were heard jeering Sarri throughout the entirety of the Cardiff showdown.
And the Italian is unsure if he can win fans round.
“I don’t want to answer because I can understand very well,” he said.
“I have been on the pitch for the last 45 years.
“I was really disappointed for my players because they were fighting. Maybe it was better to wait until the end of the match.
“I can understand. Unfortunately I am getting used to this.
“I need to work in order to change their opinion.”
