Chelsea to block Barcelona transfer deal for ONE reason - pundit
CHELSEA winger Callum Hudson-Odoi will not join Barcelona in the summer - because the club cannot afford to sell him.
Chelsea: Hudson-Odoi WON'T transfer to Barcelona says Mariner
That is according to ESPN FC pundit and former Arsenal striker Paul Mariner.
Hudson-Odoi, 18, has been heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea.
The teenager made his senior England debut last Friday before starting in the Euro 2020 Qualifier against Montenegro on Monday.
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich had several bids turned down for Hudson-Odoi in the January transfer window.
He isn’t going to Barcelona. He can’t be because of the block on the transfers at Chelsea at the moment
Liverpool and Manchester United are also reportedly keen on the Chelsea academy graduate.
Barcelona have emerged as another club interested in a deal for Hudson-Odoi.
But Mariner says, because of Chelsea’s transfer ban, he will not be going anywhere.
“Hudson-Odoi, every single Chelsea fan wants him to stay at Chelsea,” Mariner said.
“Sarri’s been reluctant to play him, I don’t know why, I really don’t.
“Sometimes he plays Pedro, okay [Eden] Hazard’s got to play, and [Gonzalo] Higuain is playing through the middle, or [Olivier] Giroud.
“But on that right-hand side, get him in.
“He either scores or he assists.
Sarri: Hudson-Odoi will play 30-35 games for Chelsea next season
“Dynamic player, but he isn’t going to Barcelona.
“He can’t be because of the block on the transfers at Chelsea at the moment.
“He’s got to stay, they’ve got no players.”
