Man Utd team news vs Wolves: Predicted line up – Solskjaer gives positive injury updates
MANCHESTER UNITED have been boosted by the return to training of several key players ahead of their FA Cup clash with Wolves this evening (7.55pm).
Man United: Solskjaer provides squad update before Wolves clash
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed a number of first-team stars are nearing a return to full fitness prior to Manchester United’s FA Cup quarter-final against Wolves.
The Red Devils interim manager has been struggling with a host of absentees in recent weeks but could welcome back as many as six injured players this weekend.
Solskjaer initially provided an update to the Manchester United app on Friday morning before revealing more information about the status of the squad in his pre-match press conference.
“We’re still getting players back, they’ve been training better this week,” he said.
“Jesse [Lingard], Ander [Herrera], they’ve been training. Romelu [Lukaku] got a sore foot so he’ll be assessed this morning to see if he can join in.
“Phil Jones is back, so we’re looking stronger. Mason [Greenwood] has been ill, so he’s not trained this week. He might be training this morning, so let’s see how he is.”
Solskjaer went on to confirm that Anthony Martial is fit and ready to feature, having made his comeback as a substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal last time out.
“We’ve got a decision to make tomorrow on who’s match fit,” said the Norwegian manager.
Sergio Romero is likely to come in for David de Gea in goal while Diogo Dalot should replace the suspended Ashley Young at right-back.
Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian remain sidelined but Nemanja Matic played against the Gunners and is in contention to start again.
Fred, Scott McTominay and Andreas Pereira are other midfield options while Solskjaer made no mention of Juan Mata but the Spaniard trained last week and is expected to be available.
Alexis Sanchez is still in Barcelona recovering from injury and remains sidelined so Marcus Rashford is likely to start in attack with Lukaku doubtful.
