Souness believes it is vital for Silva to get a win over the old enemy and says they will have double motivation to put a dent into Liverpool’s title aspirations.
“I think it’s very important for Everton today to get a result,” Souness said on Sky Sports' Super Sunday.
“Very important for the manager today to get a result.
“The Evertonians would love to put a spoke into the wheels of Liverpool’s title challenge.

“That I think would come 50-50 - ‘we want to three points, we want to bragging rights, but we also want to damage Liverpool’.”
The Merseyside derby is often called the ‘Friendly derby’ but Souness says that is only off the pitch among the supporters.
“It’s never easy. When we were dominant, coming here, going to Old Trafford, it was never easy,” the Scot continued.
“You call it a friendly derby but mostly because families could be divided, your son and father support one team and mum and daughter the other side.
