Man Utd team news vs Southampton: Predicted line up – Seven still injured, rotation likely
MANCHESTER UNITED are still ravaged by injuries ahead of their Premier League meeting with Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday (3pm).
Manchester United: Solskjaer praises Lukaku after Palace victory
Manchester United still have a host of injury issues ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash with Southampton.
Interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was without a large number of his first-choice starting XI last time out against Crystal Palace and was forced to field Diogo Dalot as an emergency winger.
However, the makeshift squad saw off Crystal Palace 3-1 and the United manager is expected to make further changes when Saints visit Old Trafford.
Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw should retain their places but Eric Bailly could be preferred to Chris Smalling in central defence if the England defender is rested.
Ashley Young is another who could be given the night off with Dalot deployed in his more natural right-back position.
Antonio Valencia is still on the sidelines but should be available for selection next month while Phil Jones is a doubt, Matteo Darmian is out and Marcos Rojo is short of match fitness.
Further forward, Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic are both still on the treatment table so Scott McTominay and Fred should feature alongside Paul Pogba once more.
The Brazilian impressed against the Eagles on his first start since Boxing Day, although Andreas Pereira is another midfield option.
Solskjaer’s main injury issues are in attack with Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata both out.
Anthony Martial has also been ruled out in recent weeks but the Frenchman is potentially in contention to feature after recovering from a groin strain.
Marcus Rashford was a substitute against Palace due to a knock sustained in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool, but the 21-year-old should start up front.
Romeu Lukaku could move to the right flank despite his two goals last time out while Alexis Sanchez is most likely to line up on the opposite wing.
