Man Utd change transfer plans because of Tottenham - Spurs likely to complete summer deal
MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly think Sampdoria ace Joachim Andersen is likely to join Tottenham at the end of the season.
Joachim Andersen: I want an important role within Sampdoria
Manchester United are supposedly interested in signing Andersen while Tottenham also pursuing the Sampdoria star.
The Red Devils are expected to sign a centre-back when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season, despite having Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo on their books.
Andersen is reportedly on their transfer wishlist alongside Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, while Inter Milan ace Milan Skriniar is also in their sights.
However, the Independent claim United believe Andersen to be closer to a move to Tottenham.
Spurs have reportedly made contact over a transfer.
And ‘progress’ is said to have been made by the north London side as they plan for a bright new future at a new stadium.
As a result, United now feel Skriniar is their likeliest defensive signing for the summer.
But whether they can land him remains to be seen.
Andersen, meanwhile, has admitted that he will only join a club who have a ‘good plan’ for him.
The defender said: “It's hard to say [which is my favourite league]. England, Spain or Italy.
“But it comes mostly to the club, which must have a good plan for me, and it must make sense in the long term.
"I have to take the right steps at the right times.
“So I don't really care if it's Tottenham, Inter or Atletico Madrid."
United could also strengthen in other areas when the transfer window reopens.
Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi and Juventus’ Paulo Dybala are both supposedly in their sights.
And as too is Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele, who has drawn comparisons with Paul Pogba.
