Chelsea news: Why Zinedine Zidane should not replace Maurizio Sarri - pundit
CHELSEA should NOT appoint Zinedine Zidane as their next manager.
Chelsea: Pundit reveals why club could sack Maurizio Sarri
That is the opinion of former Rangers and Scotland striker Ally McCoist.
Zidane has emerged as a potential replacement to the under-fire Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri only replaced Antonio Conte at Chelsea last summer but his long-term future at the club looks uncertain.
The Blues are sixth in the Premier League table having lost their last three away games, conceding 12 and scoring none.
Zidane had fantastic success at Real Madrid, but it’s a completely different club with different values to Chelsea
Zidane has been without a job since resigning as Real Madrid boss after leading them to three successive Champions League titles last summer.
But McCoist cannot see the France legend having the same sort of success at Chelsea.
“Zidane had fantastic success at Real Madrid, but it’s a completely different club with different values to Chelsea,” McCoist said on talkSPORT.
“Real Madrid’s supporters have been dealt a brand of football that is absolutely all-out attack, whether that’s [Cristiano] Ronaldo, [Karim] Benzema, [Gareth] Bale, all these guys whereas Chelsea are certainly different.
“So I’m not sure if it’s a great fit to be honest.”
McCoist would not be surprised if Chelsea did sack Sarri soon, if previous managers were to go by.
But he believes the former Napoli boss should be given more time.
“Chelsea won’t stick with their man for long, because that’s just Chelsea, but in my opinion he deserves more time,” he continued.
Chelsea: Maurizio Sarri is a 'dead man walking' says pundit
“Absolutely he deserves more time.
“He’s not been at the club two minutes, really.
“They’ve had some good performance and some defensively shocking performances.
“Bournemouth stuck four past them, Man City scored six, but does he deserve more time? Of course he does.”
