Liverpool news: ‘I’m not massively impressed’ - Jamie Carragher questions one Reds star
LIVERPOOL legend Jamie Carragher admits he is NOT impressed with one part of Andy Robertson’s game.
Robertson has become one of the best left-backs in the Premier League since joining Liverpool from Hull in 2017.
The 24-year-old has missed just two games in the Premier League and Champions League combined this season.
Ahead of the trip to West Ham on Monday night, Robertson had given away just seven fouls in the league all term.
He had also only received one yellow card for his troubles.
I’m not massively impressed when I hear those things
But Carragher says those statistics are not always a positive sign for a defender.
And he claims there is sometimes nothing wrong with giving away a foul or getting a yellow card.
“Sometimes I don’t know impressed I am when I hear those stats,” Jamie Carragher said on Sky Sports.
“When a defender has only one yellow card all season, when he’s only made this many fouls.
“Sometimes I think there’s nothing wrong with giving someone a whack now and again or getting a yellow card.
“I’m not massively impressed when I hear those things.”
Former England left-back Ashley Cole was working alongside Carragher.
And he claims Robertson has been the best in his position this season.
“He’s been brilliant,” Cole said.
“I think he’s definitely been the best left-back in the Premier League this season.
“His work rate, how he gets up and down and with five assists already I think he’s only going to get better.”
