Alex Scott stuns fans by calling one Arsenal star 'HALF-A***D' on live TV
ALEX SCOTT really made her feelings clear on Arsenal star Stephan Lichtsteiner at half time of Sunday’s clash at Manchester City.
Former Arsenal Women captain Scott was working as a pundit for Sky Sports at the match.
The Gunners trailed Manchester City 2-1 at half time after a brace from Sergio Aguero.
And when analysing Aguero’s second goal, she appeared to label right-back Lichtsteiner “half-arsed” in his attempts to defend.
“For me in that half, Lichtsteiner is all over the place,” Scott said.
He doesn’t know whether to go and close down his player and he’s leaving it half-a***d
“He doesn’t know whether to go and close down his player and he’s leaving it half-a***d.
“And that’s why between him and [Alex] Iwobi they’re getting popped around down this side.”
Fans on Twitter immediately noticed the slip of the tongue from Scott.
One wrote: “Alex Scott calling Lichtsteiner half-a***d is the greatest bit of punditry this season #MCFCvAFC @SkySports”
Another put: "Half A***d’ isn’t used nearly enough. Perfectly accurate description!”
Scott was also not impressed with the defending from Arsenal left-back Nacho Monreal for Aguero’s second goal.
“Aguero’s movement on this goal as well, he’s constantly staying in that pocket between Monreal and Koscielny and finding that space,” she said.
“And for me Monreal rushes out too early instead of knowing where Aguero is.”
Liverpool legend Graeme Souness was working alongside Scott and was particularly critical of Alex Iwobi for Aguero’s opener in the first minute of the match.
“An avoidable goal from Arsenal’s point of view,” Souness said.
“[Laurent] Koscielny there playing Silva onside, he should be up with the rest of his team.
“After this it ends up with Iwobi and they’re all over the place.
“They’re now emptying their goal, thinking it’s safe. It’s not safe, [Aymeric] Laporte wins it and he’s not going to miss that.”
Aguero completed his hat-trick in the second half as City ran out 3-1 winners.
Arsenal, who started the weekend in fourth, dropped down to sixth in the Premier League table.
City go back above Tottenham into second, two points behind league-leaders Liverpool who visit West Ham on Monday evening.
