Why Liverpool beating Leicester does NOT mean they will win Premier League - Danny Mills
LIVERPOOL will not be guaranteed the Premier League title if they beat Leicester on Wednesday evening.
That is the verdict of BBC Sport pundit and former Manchester City right-back Danny Mills.
Liverpool are currently four points ahead of second-placed City in the table.
City suffered a shock defeat against Newcastle on Tuesday, going down 2-1 at St James’ Park.
Liverpool face Leicester at Anfield 24 hours later looking to extend their lead to seven points.
To have a seven point lead at this stage of the season, no the title’s not over
Mills admits Jurgen Klopp’s side would be a in a great position if they beat Leicester.
But he does not think the race for top spot would be over just yet.
“No I don’t [think it would be over if Liverpool beat Leicester],” Mills said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Seven points, that’s a huge margin for them.
“That means they’ve got to lose two at least and draw another one.
“They’ve got to slip up quite badly and City have just to go and win and win and win.
“But to have a seven point lead at this stage of the season, no the title’s not over.
“But it puts Liverpool in an incredibly good position.”
Liverpool are still without Trent Alexander-Arnold due to a knee injury.
Virgil van Dijk was a doubt due to illness but did train on Tuesday.
James Milner is out through suspension after being sent off against Crystal Palace 11 days ago.
Joe Gomez is close to a return after suffering a leg fracture in early December.
