Chelsea transfer news: ‘I think he should have just made the move to Chelsea’ - Ian Darke
CHELSEA new signing Christian Pulisic should NOT have returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the rest of the season.
Pulisic should have just made the move to Chelsea claims pundit
That is the opinion of Premier League commentator and ESPN FC pundit Ian Darke.
Pulisic joined Chelsea at the beginning of January for a fee of around £58million.
The USA international was immediately loaned back to Borussia Dortmund before arriving at Stamford Bridge in the summer.
However, Pulisic has made just one appearance since agreeing to become a Chelsea player.
I think he should have just made the move to Chelsea instead of hanging around at Dortmund for the rest of the season
That was as a second-half substitute in the 1-0 win at RB Leipzig earlier this month.
Chelsea have a winger of their own who has been linked with a transfer in 18-year-old Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Darke says he would prefer Hudson-Odoi in his team on current form ahead of Pulisic.
And he can see Hudson-Odoi getting his move to Bayern Munich before Thursday’s deadline.
“I think at the moment I would say Hudson-Odoi because he’s in better form,” Darke said.
“I think Pulisic has been displaced in the Borussia Dortmund team.
“I think he’s in a kind of twilight zone there now isn’t he.
“I think he should have just made the move to Chelsea instead of hanging around at Dortmund for the rest of the season.
“So Hudson-Odoi I think is an exciting talent.
“It will be interesting, that might have been his last game for Chelsea at the weekend. Bayern Munich want him badly and he was a bit evasive when asked about it after the game.
“So watch what happens in the next couple of days.”
