Man Utd news: Ryan Giggs says United board has THIS big decision to make
MANCHESTER UNITED interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is close to forcing the board into making a big decision over his future.
That is according to Manchester United legend and Wales manager Ryan Giggs.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has won his first seven matches in charge in all competitions since being appointed in December.
The Norwegian has helped close the gap on the top four to four points with six of those wins coming in the Premier League.
Solskjaer’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season as United look for a permanent successor to the sacked Jose Mourinho.
I’m really pleased for Ole, he’s a great lad and if he carries on then we have a big decision to make I think
But Giggs believes if Solskjaer can continue his fine start then his former club cannot look past him for the post.
“It’s great, at the moment everyone’s enjoying it,” Giggs told talkSPORT.
“The football we’re playing, the performances the likes of Marcus Rashford are producing, everyone is smiling again and it’s great to see.
“I’m really pleased for Ole, he’s a great lad and if he carries on then we have a big decision to make I think.”
Marcus Rashford has scored in each of his last four Premier League appearances.
And Giggs believes the England international will play a big part in whether United reach the top four this season or not.
“If you looked a month ago it [the top four] wasn’t even on the radar, but now we’re getting closer and closer,” Giggs added.
“It’s not going to be easy, we still have to catch Chelsea and Arsenal, but we’ve got momentum and I don’t see why not.
“I do think there are going to be bumps in the road, it’s not going to be all plain sailing, but what a great start.
“We’ve got players on really good form and when you’ve got a player like Rashford, who is so talented and can win you games, you’ve always got a chance.”
Manchester United are next in action on Friday when they face Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round at the Emirates.
