Man Utd can exploit Chelsea if Blues fail on these TWO things - Craig Burley
CHELSEA’s hopes of finishing the season in the top four of the Premier League depends on their transfer policy and Maurizio Sarri’s willingness to change tactics.
Chelsea: Craig Burley on Maurizio Sarri's 'stubbornness'
That is according to ESPN FC pundit and former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley.
Sarri’s side currently occupy the final spot in the race for Champions League qualification.
Defeat to Arsenal on Saturday means they are only three points clear of the Gunners and Manchester United in the two spots below.
Burley does not think Arsenal have got what it takes to reach the top four but has been impressed by United’s resurgence of late.
It depends on Chelsea’s stubborn manager and their transfer policy
The Red Devils have won all six league games under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Burley reckons Chelsea may have just enough to see off the competition for fourth spot.
But he believes Sarri has to lose his stubbornness with team selection and also get the loan signing of Gonzalo Higuain over the line.
“Do you know what, it depends on Chelsea’s stubborn manager and their transfer policy,” Burley said.
“If they get Higuain over the line, that’s going to be a key.
“I do think, and I have to give them credit, Man United for me have thrown their hat right back in the ring just by their change of manager. Seven wins in a row, six in the league.
“As well as Arsenal played at the weekend, I don’t see them getting in the top four.
“So for me it’s going to be between Man United and Chelsea.
“I’m not convinced by Man United but I’m coming round, I’m coming round.
“And I’m less convinced of what I’m seeing from Chelsea.
“People are working out how to stop Jorginho and the passing and the pressing and obviously the goalscoring is an issue.
“They should be good enough to stay in the top four Chelsea but I’m not utterly convinced.”
