Chelsea face Tottenham in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie on Thursday night.
The Blues trail Spurs 1-0 on aggregate and need a big result at Stamford Bridge to reach the final.
Higuain has reportedly been booked onto the earliest possible flight this morning.
This means he stands a good chance of being registered as a Chelsea player in time to be selected in the squad to face Tottenham.

The deadline for registering players is midday today, meaning Higuain must complete his medical and sign all paperwork in the coming hours.
He will be keen to link up with boss Maurizio Sarri who was his manager during a prolific spell with Napoli.
Higuain could even be thrown straight into the starting line-up with the move expecting to trigger Alvaro Morata’s departure to Atletico Madrid.
Olivier Giroud has been forced to be content on the bench in recent weeks with Eden Hazard lining up in a false-nine role in the starting XI.
