Liverpool star Mo Salah is ‘breaking my heart’ with ‘grotesque’ play - BBC Sport pundit
LIVERPOOL superstar Mo Salah has been slammed for diving in the win against Crystal Palace.
BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks believes the Egypt internationals actions were ‘grotesque’ in the 4-3 win against the Eagles.
Salah netted twice - including his 50th Premier League goal - but was accused of diving in the first half.
Mamadou Sakho and Luka Milivojevic were furious with the winger but he escaped unpunished.
Crooks was not amused by Salah’s dive but could not leave the Liverpool ace out of his team of the week.
He told BBC Sport: “Mo Salah is breaking my heart.
“Why would such a wonderful player do something so grotesque?
“He went down in the penalty area as though he had been poleaxed.
“Crystal Palace skipper Luka Milivojevic told the Egypt international what he thought of the charade in no uncertain terms, and quite rightly.
Liverpool: Sturridge and Lallana ‘try too hard’ says pundit
“This was before the Liverpool striker sent the Eagles back to Selhurst Park having had their wings severely clipped.
“I was so disappointed in Salah but I still can't bring myself to leave him out of my team of the week.”
And Crooks’ fellow BBC pundit Alan Shearer also gave his take on the dive.
“We have to mention this, I think he got away with one against Newcastle, but that is a dive,” he said.
“He feels a bit of contact and then realises it a second or too later, and then goes down, and it is a dive.
“Pretty embarrassing really and not good at all to see that.
“You can see the Palace players are going absolutely berserk and rightly so. They accuse him of diving and they are right.”
Liverpool return to action against Leicester in the Premier League on Wednesday, January 30.
