Chelsea transfer news: Eden Hazard deal to Real Madrid is already done - Paul Mariner
A DEAL that sees Eden Hazard leave Chelsea for Real Madrid in the summer was “done a long, long time ago”.
Chelsea: Hazard to Real Madrid a ‘done deal’ says Mariner
That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and former Arsenal striker Paul Mariner.
Hazard has constantly been linked with a move away from Chelsea in recent months.
The Belgium superstar has not hidden his desire of wanting to play for Real Madrid at one point in his career.
His contract expires at Chelsea in the summer of 2020 and he says he will make a decision over his future at the end of this season.
I think the deal’s been done a long, long time ago
But Mariner thinks a decision has already been made and it has been decided Eden Hazard is on his way to the Bernabeu.
When asked if Hazard would be leaving Chelsea this summer, Mariner said: “It’s a yes.
“I think the deal’s been done a long, long time ago.”
Former Major League Soccer star Alejandro Moreno is also convinced Hazard will be leaving.
“100 per cent,” Moreno said.
Ex-West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop was less convinced than his colleagues.
But he still reckons Hazard will probably not be a Chelsea player next season
“I’m going to say yes but I’m not going to say 100 per cent,” Hislop said.
“Sixty-eight per cent.”
Hazard has been in fine goalscoring form this season for Chelsea.
Ahead of Saturday’s visit of Newcastle, the 28-year-old had scored 12 goals in all competitions.
Hazard started the match at Stamford Bridge, once again in a central role.
