Liverpool transfer news: Jurgen Klopp shuts down rumours of third Anfield exit
JURGEN KLOPP has insisted Liverpool youngster Rafael Camacho won’t leave Anfield this month.
Camacho has been linked with a return to Sporting Lisbon in recent weeks.
The 18-year-old midfielder joined the Reds from the Portuguese club in the summer of 2016 and is rumoured to be on their radar this month.
It’s been reported that the Libson club want Camacho on loan until June 2020, the month which his current contract with Liverpool expires.
There have also been suggestions that Sporting could permanently acquire his services if they fork out £13.5million.
But Klopp has no intention of letting the midfielder leave the club.
When asked if Camacho would be loaned out this month, Klopp said: “No, Rafa will not leave.”
Camacho made his Liverpool debut on Monday night in the Merseysiders’ 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Wolves.
The Portugal Under-20 international is just one of several of youngsters trying to break into the first team at Anfield.
No, Rafa will not leave
Klopp hasn’t been afraid to blood young players throughout his career and has told his current crop of youngsters to keep making improvements if they want to force their way into his plans.
“Improve. Improve. Everyday, that’s how it is with the boys,” he said when asked what advice he’d give to those trying to break into the first team. “Using their potential, they are in because their potential is fantastic.
“We have a lot of young players, all good. We won the indoor tournament in Germany with the U18s, and it wasn’t even the U18s.
“The youngest team in the tournament. That shows the next generation is already waiting.
“It’s not easy then to show up, be in that group, be in Melwood, in the dressing room and around. But if you do that it shows you’ve done a lot of things right already.
“And now they have to use the training with these world-class players around them, stay confident, be humble, stay on the ground but show up.
“That’s what these young boys have to do. We give them the best we have, and give them, on top of that, time to develop. And everything will be fine in the future.”
Liverpool return to action tomorrow afternoon, travelling to the Amex Stadium to take on Brighton.
