Liverpool team news vs Brighton: Predicted line up – Centre-back crisis, nine changes
LIVERPOOL manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to ring the changes when the Reds return to Premier League action against Brighton at the Amex on Saturday (3pm).
Liverpool: Klopp gives injury update on Dejan Lovren
Liverpool are facing an injury crisis at centre-back when they look to get back to winning ways against Brighton this weekend.
A hamstring injury to Dejan Lovren during the opening minutes of the FA Cup defeat to Wolves on Monday has left Jurgen Klopp with just one fit first-team centre-back.
Virgil van Dijk is certain to start on the south coast but is without a recognised specialist alongside him with Lovren joining Joe Gomez and Joel Matip on the treatment table.
Ki-Jana Hoever came off the bench against Wolves and performed admirably but is unlikely to be risked again, meaning Fabinho is likely to reprise his role as an emergency defender.
The Brazilian was quietly impressive despite the 2-1 loss at Molineux and is Klopp’s most likely choice alongside Van Dijk.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will return in place of Rafael Camacho while Andrew Robertson is set to replace Alberto Moreno at left-back.
Simon Mignolet deputised for Alisson in goal last time out but the Belgian stopper will drop back to the bench against the Seagulls.
Meanwhile, Klopp has a decision to make in midfield with Jordan Henderson likely to be available again.
The Reds captain was initially meant to play against Wolves but pulled out due to the after-effects of a knock suffered in the loss to Manchester City.
Henderson should return alongside the recalled Georginio Wijnaldum, while Naby Keita will also feature if Klopp opts for a three-man midfield.
However, Liverpool have utilised a more attacking 4-2-3-1 formation this season which would see Keita left out and Xherdan Shaqiri named on the right wing.
The headline trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah will all come back into the side, with the latter expected to start up front in a more advanced role.
