Man Utd news: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plan for Paul Pogba revealed
PAUL POGBA could very well be the focal point of Manchester United’s attack under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Solskjaer is expected to be named interim United manager later today, a role he’ll take following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal from the club.
Mourinho’s sacking was seemingly received warmly by Pogba, who appeared to mock the Portuguese on Instagram.
Pogba has spent four of the last five matches on the bench, omissions which further fuelled suggestions of a rift between himself and his former manager.
But the France international could be set for an immediate return to the starting XI following Mourinho’s dismissal.
Solskjaer worked closely with Pogba during his time in charge of United’s reserve team and revealed in the summer that he’d centre his team around the former Juventus man if he was in charge of the club.
"I would [build the team around him], absolutely no doubt,” he told Sky Sports
“I had him with David [Gray] and Etzaz [Hussain] who is playing for me tomorrow," Solskjaer told Sky Sports.
"That just shows how far the kid has come.
I would [build the team around him], absolutely no doubt
“Paul is a fantastic kid so hopefully we can build the team around him and keep him."
Pogba’s apparent taunting of Mourinho wasn’t well received by former Liverpool boss Graeme Souness, who said: "Paul Pogba has been a major disappointment to Man United and he really needs to have a close look at himself.
"He could be a fabulous player, he really could.
"With the skill he possesses, the God-given athleticism that he has, but he gets into his armchair too readily.
"I never see him come off and think, he has put a shift in today. I see a player come off a football pitch that has done nice things.
"But as many good things as he has done, he has done equally as many bad things by giving the ball away, not tracking player, not doing the things proper players do."
Solskjaer’s first match in charge of United will be an away match against relegation-threatened Cardiff City.
The Norwegian managed the Welsh side in the 2013-14 season, though he was unable to keep them in Premier League.
