Cristiano Ronaldo: Bayern Munich make controversial Juventus transfer call
CRISTIANO RONALDO cost Juventus too much cash says Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness.
Balon d'Or: Winner not being Ronaldo is 'big' says pundit
The Old Lady coughed up an eye-watering £90m to sign him from Real Madrid in the summer.
Hoeness, however, has hinted that he cost too much.
"We would have paid that amount for him with our eyes closed if he was 24 years old but he's 33," he told Bild.
Ronaldo was overlooked for the Ballon d’Or this season.
Luka Modric won the Ballon d’Or ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo
His former Real team-mate Luka Modric scooped the prestigious award.
Ronaldo’s manager at Juve - Massimiliano Allegri - says the Portuguese will bounce back.
"It's too bad, Ronaldo certainly deserved it with Real," Allegri said at the Gala Sports Awards.
"Modric winning it will be a motivation.
“He'll want to do better and win his sixth ballon d'or with Juventus next year.
"CR7 is a model to all footballers.
“Even with all his success and at 33 years old he still focuses on each detail.
“His talents alone don't account for him being on his level.
"He is a likable guy and he has joined into the group well, and raised our level of professionalism, which is always a part of Juventus."
Ronaldo is next in action against Inter Milan on Friday.
The Old Lady cruised past their arch-rivals AC Milan in a 2-0 win last month.
Allegri says he’s looking forward to the crunch clash.
“It will be a fantastic match," he added.
"We'll see in May if this is a season-defining match, we hope we are able to win something big.
"The derby d'Italia is a very difficult match, five out of five on the scale."
Juventus currently sit eight points clear of second-placed Napoli in Serie A.
Allegri’s men have won 13 their first 14 league matches.
