Liverpool news: Gary Neville advises Reds over Man City and title race
LIVERPOOL have to seriously think about how they are going to keep pace with Manchester City in the title race.
That is the view of Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, who has been impressed by Manchester City’s fabulous start to their Premier League title defence.
Liverpool easily saw off Watford with a 3-0 victory at Vicarage Road on Saturday, while City went one better and thrashed West Ham 4-0 on their travels.
City and Liverpool remain the only two teams unbeaten in the league this campaign.
Although Liverpool are just two points behind leaders City, Pep Guardiola’s men already boast a goal difference of +35.
And Neville reckons the Reds have to just focus on keeping as close to City as possible or else they will run away with the title.
“Liverpool are hanging in there,” Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast when discussing the title race.
“Liverpool have to just stay really close - there have been times where I was part of teams where we were chasing and we were hunting down sides.
“You just have to stay on the shoulder and stay close.

From a Liverpool point of view, they have to be on the coattails of City going into February
“That is because it just unnerves teams sometimes.
“When you don’t go away, some teams will think ‘I expect them to drop points’.
“There’s a feeling also when you are busting a gut and you’re in front and when we’ve been hunted down and I expected teams to drop points.
“It’s not that point in the season yet when Man City will feel like that.
“From a Liverpool point of view, they have to be on the coattails of City going into February and March.
“That is a difficult task especially with the way City amass points and goals and everything is impressive.”
Liverpool turn their attentions back to the Champions League on Wednesday (8pm) when they travel to face Paris Saint-Germain.
